Join Us This Year For The Junk Revolution!

Over the last year, we’ve been getting all the video spaces ready to film Bevel Cafe: A Junk Reality Show. And we’ve launched a brand new module of The Universe Within called Making Music! We’re also palying a pivotal roll in advancing a crerative economy in Santa Cruz County Arizona through the Morley Arts District.

More than ever, we need your support as The Junk Revolution begins. What will we need? New currency for consciousness! A Guru for inspiration! And a creative hot spot in the Junk Universe at The Bevel Cafe!

“In the early days of the Junk Revolution space was littered with discarded items spiraling around a primordial dump of junk genesis; hot spots of creation where space junk collisions formed recycled junk stars.”
“Rising from the plasma of debris came a new junk reality, a rebirth of junk consciousness and a new currency for life.  We throw them out but they come back stronger, reborn and full of life.  From loss comes truth and thus is the wisdom of the junk.”
“At the center of the Revolution is a hot spot called the Bevel Café, a night club where junk star soldiers from both sides of the conflict come into play, Action Heroes of the Creative Forces fighting for The Junk Revolution rubbing up against their antagonists, the Science Friction Characters of the Squeaky-Clean Resistance.”

Bevel Cafe: A Junk Reality Show

Over the last year, we’ve prepared the studios and we’re ready to roll! Stay tuned for a sampling of what’s to come!

What’s Next for 2023-2024? With all sets installed at our new home, we’ll be producing footage from the world of Beveldom featuring Ned Schaper’s Surrealistic Science Theater!

A Young Cadre Of Creative Problem-Solvers.

Over the last year, we’ve seen the impact the program is having on kids is significant, not just in terms of improving students’ creative problem-solving skills, character traits and spatial mechanical abilities, but academically. Fifth grade students who participated in The Universe Within’s The Power of Electricity during this last year at Patagonia Elementary School, increased their knowledge of electricity by 40%! The one question that had a 100% improvement was: “I know how to use electricity to create light, sound and motion.”

What’s Next for 2023-2024? We’ll be delivering The Universe Within to more students with new community partnerships.

Making Music Multimedia Curriculum

A third multimedia module for The Universe Within STEAM world-building curriculum was completed and taught to elementary students: The Power of Electricity. Students developed sustainable communities powered by electricity while learning the principles of atoms, power sources and switches, motors and electro-magnetic fields. They learned how to use electricity to create light, sound and movement, and how to build series and parallel circuits. They demonstrated what they’d learned and made during The Circus of Electricity. Students were so excited to build parallel circuits with many paths for electricity to flow through and use switches to turn on and off the flow of electricity. They used potentiometers, or variable resistors, to learn how electricity can be varied such as in light dimmers and speaker volume knobs.

What’s Next for 2023-2024? Implementation of Module 4: Making Music! Support development and teacher stipends for 40 hours of new STEAM curriculum.

Invest In Innovative Education That Inspires Students To Learn!

Through The Universe Within kids learn physics, mechanics, geometry, leadership and communication skills, and more by solving real-world problems and presenting their craft work at public events: The Pedestrian Carnival, The World Exhibition and The Circus of Electricity! It’s fun, fresh, engaging – and meets school standards. We’ve developed it with Patagonia Elementary School and University of Arizona School of Mathematical Sciences.

As an all-volunteer organization, we rely on in-kind services to develop and implement programming. But we need to hire artists, educators and technologists to help our volunteer team produce our creativity programs.

“I’m Julissa Santos. For the last six months I have been working with The Universe Within and with Ms. Paula. The Universe Within has helped me learn things that I have never learned before because of The Universe Within I learn how to light a light with only two batteries and also the universe has inspired me to go on in life and use the stuff I have learned. It taught me how to use electricity.  It also made me think about how important it is to design cities well. I had to come up with my own city and build it.”

“I’m Isabela Felix. The Universe Within is a fun and creative way to learn about science. It has been so amazing and I learned so many things. I learned about electricity and how it works. I have learned about circuits, both parallel and series. I really like The Universe Within because it taught me so many things and I still have things to learn. I think that it will help me understand more complicated things about science when I am older. I am amazed by The Universe Within.”
“I’m Lily Harsh. Doing the Universe Within was something to remember. It was so fun doing all of the projects and experiments with electrical cords and making our own motors and electric cities!!! Working with Ms. Paula and Mr. CW was awesome. This experience was so fun. Making the universe within, this city showed me that when you use creativity to make a city is not just fun it’s inspirational. Using cleaner energies would make my city more lively.  I got to put in all my ideas and make them become real! I hope we can do this again next year!”

Gifts of all sizes are welcome. Every gift will be acknowledged on our website and on social media. If you’d like to send a donation by mail, please send your check to Mat Bevel Company to PO Box 1163, Patagonia, AZ 85624. Our Charitable Tax Number is: 13-4012463. Thank you for your support!
