The Universe Within Lessons – Module 1, Corrugated Headgear

The Universe Within offers an innovative approach to spark the inherent creative genius of 3-5 graders, especially in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math. The 40-hour classroom curriculum uses doodling, sculpture and kinetic art to teach scientific observation, physics, geometry, engineering, and theater as a way for students to more confidently present their ideas and lessons they’ve learned to peers and the community. Each of the 40 one-hour lessons in the multimedia curriculum will start with a 3-minute video to orient students to the curriculum. Four different cinematic components—inspirations, introductions, peer mentor demonstrations and tips & insights—prepare and motivate students to carry out each hands-on activity. Lessons align with Science, Math, Engineering, Visual Arts, Theater and English Language Arts Arizona State Standards.
